Beethoven composed, or actually arranged, his Op. 38 Trio in 1805. This trio is an arrangement of the Septet, Op. 20 (1800). The Septet was a best seller among Beethoven’s published compositions during his lifetime, so the trio arrangement made financial sense. Alternate violin part included.
