These intelligent and soulful animals are highly social in the wild, communicating through a language of subsonic tones, and even demonstrating an understanding of death and grieving. In captivity, elephants are frequently trained using bull hooks and whips. In many cases, they live out their days chained in cramped, filthy conditions. Captive elephants are often sick, depressed, and in despair. This composition is dedicated to circus elephants everywhere, in the hopes that we will someday cease using animals cruelly for entertainment.
