French composer, Michel Meriot (1928-2003) studied at the Conservatory of Poitiers before joining the band of the French Marines. He then studied at the Paris Conservatoire where he won prizes for Saxophone, proving himself as a highly competent player of the instrument. His compositions, including Sicilienne and Dance for Alto Saxophone and Piano have provded that he is also a highly capable composer.With a typical performance lasting around 3 minutes and 10 seconds, Meriot’s Sicilienne and Dance is suitable for intermediate standard saxophonists.
