By the early 1950s, Florence Price had experienced success as both a composer of major instrumental works as well as teaching pieces for elementary and intermediate students. In 1951, the Clayton F. Summy Co. published three of her solos for students—“The Sea Swallow,” “The Old Boatman,” and “The Goblin and the Mosquito.” This publication includes these three solos under one cover.
