Description
At the request of Dutch saxophonist Arno Bornkamp, I wrote Three fantasy pieces for alto saxophone and piano that are stylistically related for 19th century music and, as a departure point, use a characteristic theme borrowed, and then reconstructed from the Hymne sacré (H. Berlioz). It appears as second theme in the first piece, while in the second and third pieces, it returns as a melodic paraphrase.
