Description
Every summer the Cathedral of Chicester, in Sussex, England, joins forces with its neighbors, Winchester and Salisbury, to produce a music festival. for its 1965 Festival, Leonard Bernstein was commissioned to write these Psalms.
Originally orchestrated for 3 trumpets in B-flat, 3 trombones, timpani, percussion (5), 2 harps, and strings.
Reduced orchestration: organ, one harp, and percussion.
Percussion: chimes, suspended cymbals, cymbals, bass drum, snare drum, xylophone, glockenspiel, tambourine, triangle, wood block, 3 bongos, whip, and rasp.
